Dear Mixed Girl: You Are A Design

Dear Mixed Girl,

How wonderful is it to know that you are a design?

You’re created with fragments of what has become the very depths of you.

There is no half and half, no need to pick a side, and no stance you must take.
You are a mosaic of God’s creation and the perfect portrait of diversity, by just being you.

Don’t let me find out that someone told you anything different!

You are not a “what” in the “what are you” questions.

You are essence, uniqueness, truth, love, universal, and you are God’s child.

So, when the questions come, stand in your exclamation of self-love, owning every single part of your design.

Sincerely,
Dr. KayLa N. Allen-Young,
Another Mixed Girl

Be blessed and be at peace.

More Words for the Girls Becoming Themselves

Dear Mixed Girl® is a growing collection of reflections, reminders, and conversations created for girls navigating identity, belonging, self-worth, and the experience of growing into themselves in a world that does not always make space for complexity.

Created by Dr. KayLa N. Allen-Young, the Dear Mixed Girl® platform extends beyond the letters through speaking, coaching, workshops, and educational experiences designed to support girls, families, schools, leaders in children-centered organizations, and the environments that shape young people every day.

No matter where you are in your journey, you deserve spaces that remind you who you are—not spaces that make you question your worth.
